Things are coming along…

by Juliemara
06.27.11

First, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! to my amazing husband. I love you and it has been a wonderful year and I am excited for a thousand more!

Things are coming along and beginning to take shape out in East Cobb. Our original move in date of July 4th weekend had to get pushed back a week or two because, who does a gut renovation of three bathrooms, a kitchen and a family room,  AND paints an entire house in 30days, apparently nobody (except Ty Pennington and his crew of two thousand), so mid July it is. I’m ok with that, because it means that my sweet husband, who is working so hard to make this house a home for us, will take a few days off to relax with our family at the lake for the holiday weekend, instead of moving boxes! YEAH! I’m happy and I know he will enjoy the relaxation.

Here’s how far we have come.

(Side note – towards the bottom of the post all the captions are messed up from their pictures, it’s a funny wordpress thing that I don’t know how to fix, but you’ll get the point)

Family room – remember this big mess

Here it is now, the cabinet doors are at the cabinet doctor getting a facelift.

The floor where we removed the fire place is almost finished.

Remember that hole in the back of the house

It has a filling now

Then there was that lovely mustard yellow dinning room that the tenants left for us

and what we have now

The Hall Bathroom went through a rough patch,

but things are looking up and emeraldy.

The girls room was blue, now that just wouldn’t do

here it is now,

but not for long, we are still going for this look, thanks Haute Mama

Here is their closet now

and here are my plans for it

Then there was our room

now here’s our room, just primer and a lot of mess

we tried out some different colors, which do you think is the best?

and our bathroom before

and after… in progress

ay.

Happy Monday!

The hall was is definitely better now than it was in it’s mustard yellow day

and yet somehow, some way all these things will be magically completed by mid July. I think it’s amazing. But for now, when I go to the house I just get so excited at the thought of sitting outside n our backyard or fron and laying on a blanket with my family staring up at these beautiful trees and watching the cloud go by.

Happy Monday!

That was a Happy Day

by Juliemara
06.24.11

I’m talking about this past Sunday. For many men is was Father’s Day! A day filled with greeting cards, cakes and gifts in the shape of a tie, gifts of golf/fishing/hunting/home improvement equipment and of course lots of hugs from the little people in their lives and the people that were once little and always will be in the eyes of their DAD.  My Dad was many hundred miles away in North Carolina so we didn’t get to hang out but my two older sisters and I sent him some fun little things, one of which he still hasn’t received, Grrr. (I love Etsy but when the sellers don’t stay true to their word it gives the whole community a bad name!) He did get to hang out with my middle sister and it sounds like he had a good day. We get to hang out next weekend for the fourth, yeah! I know my Dad is proud of his family and I’m grateful to be a part of it. Love you Dad.

Around these parts we celebrated very differently.  Even though my husband isn’t quite an Abba yet he spent the day doing the most fatherly thing a man can do, building a house for his soon to be arriving little girls and us. It’s coming along great, updated pics on Monday I promise.  I had been able to feel the girls moving around for several days and I was determined to have him feel them too, so we sat on the couch and waited paitently for a and b to start playing and sure enough they did and he could feel it! The look on his face was priceless, I know he is getting excited to meet them.

John from one of my favorite blogs said about fathers day “I learned from my own dad to think of celebrating these holidays not with things, but by doing things… together” I think this is a great was to celebrate everyday, not just fathers day. I hope that our family takes the time in the future to do things rather than get things( as much).

Bumpdate, get it like Bump update : )

by Juliemara
06.17.11

So here it is, growing super fast now.  Yesterday I was lounging by the pool reading a book and I though I felt someone moving around so I took a look down and blup, (that’s what I call it because it sort of feels like a cross between a nervous flutter and food being digested),  I could see a little part of my tummy pop up! So I called over my friend nurse Peggy who was so good about motivating me to do some laps in the pool (thank you) and she saw it happen again!

Now that’s a belly.

look how much it grew since our last photo shoot!

by the way – I’d like to say a big thank you to my sweet husband for 1)taking all these pictures of me, 2)following my creative direction so well and 3) for humoring me in this photographic documentation activity that I make him take part in. You’re the best babe!

Ultrasound Update

by Juliemara
06.14.11

June 13th 19 weeks

I have finally started to feel them moving around, not much, just a tiny little bit here and there. It’s so subtle that if I’m not being super still when they move enough for me to feel them then I miss it. Sometimes I think I feel a little muscle twitch, but the more I talk to the other 15 women in my office who are pregnant I realize it’s them! My husband can’t wait to start feeling them move and kick and punch and whatever else they will do in there for the next four months (hopefully). And he’s really good about saying hi to them everyday, in Hebrew .

It was back to the Perinatal doctor this week and again, everything looks good, no ttts, good! They are very quick and thorough with their check, they just don’t take the time to get the good images like they use to, tisk, tisk. Hehe. That was a joke, they are doing their job making sure that our babies are growing well, which they are. They both measure 19wks and three days gestational age and each weigh the same at 11oz. Their heads are now above my belly button and they are both feet down, but they spin around like tiny dancers the whole time. Which is probably why it is difficult to get good pics. The tech did manage to snap these…

but the rest just look like blobs, like this one

or scary skeletor people, like this one…

She actually has her hands up by her head, which is a good thing for babies, it means they are relaxed (my sister told me that).

I feel really lucky that I get to check in with the babies every one to two weeks, I just don’t know how people can stand not knowing what is going on for months at a time.  12 days until next scan!

Movin’ Out West

by Juliemara
06.12.11

Ok, not really. Just over the river and through the woods and up the hill a little to this place.

We searched and searched for the perfect new home closer to where we currently live but just could find anything that needed any less work than this place. Which my genius husband bought as an investment a while back and has been renting out. But with two little bundles of joy arriving soon we needed space and a change. So we decided to change things a bit…

Welcome to our home renovation adventures. The adventure began June 2nd, 2011 and the estimated date of completion is July 1st, thanks top this guy our wonderful contractor.

Take a look and see whats been done in just a few weeks!

The family room

The Breakfast Area

Hall Bath

Master Bath

Tile, ready to go.  From our favorite low cost tile and flooring store.

Down Stairs Bathroom

Backyard

The Rest

The Future Babies Room -Clearly it needs a paint job (check this out)

I think that I’ll get a more comfy chair ; )

Dinning room (somewhere back there) Hope fully one day it will look closer to something like this

Happy Birthday Mom!

by Juliemara
06.7.11

Today is my moms’ birthday. She’s in NC and I’m in GA so I don’t get to celebrate with her but I hope what ever she chooses to do today is fun! Until recently we never knew how old our mom was (I have two sisters), she was always just in her early 30’s, which seamed reasonable to me, until I got to high school, then it was a little fishy. I did my detective work and found out how old she really was, and once I did I realized it really didn’t matter,  she’d always be my mom no matter how old either of us got. A few years ago my mom and her friend threw themselves a big birthday party in honor of thier milestone years, it was a lot of fun, I’m look ing forward to the next big party. But for now here are a few pics I have of my mom and me. I think she looks beautiful.

Taken right before my graduation from the 5th grade.

Ultrasound Catch Up

by Juliemara
06.6.11

I had my first ultrasound at 6wks pregnant to “confirm the pregnancy” oh the confirmed it all right with the overwhelmingly shocking words of “I can’t be certain and it’s still early, but it looks like there are two”. I had to call Yasha on the phone to tell him the news of two, since he was in Italy for work for the week. He didn’t believe me at first, then the phone went silent then it began to sink in.

March 9,2011

Since Many pregnancies start out as twins but only one develops they don’t say that it is twins for certain until nine or ten weeks. So we went back a week later to see if it is still twins. It is. They are as big as blueberries!

March 16, 2011 7weeks

That following Saturday after two weeks of agonizing morning sickness that lasted all day long I woke up feeling great, not hungry or hungover (that’s how morning sickness felt to me) and full of energy. I went for a walk in the park and got really nervous that something was wrong. So the next Monday I called to see if I could come for another ultrasound just to check. This is when I saw two little things that looked something like a babies and saw two little heartbeats. But you can’t tell from the picture. And they are as big as raspberries.

March 22, 2011 8 weeks

My next appointment was my first with my OB. And here’s what we saw…One looks bigger only because one was closer to the front than the other. But they are each the size of a green olive.

April 5, 2011 9 weeks

Here we saw what we had been hoping to see, the glorious membrane that separates the two babies within the sac. That’s why they are called monochorionic-diamniotic (‘mono/di’) twins . If they didn’t have that membrane they would be the highest risk twins possible and I would have had to be on bed rest in the hospital from 25 weeks on. I like my membrane. I’m sure there will come a day when these babies wished that membrane was still there.

Our next appointment wasn’t until three weeks later, at 12 weeks pregnant, I wasn’t even past my first trimester and I was already super spoiled with the ultra sounds. The next appointment was the first with the perinatal doctor. He’s much more fun to go to than the OB, the ultrasound machines are a much higher resolution and first the ultrasound tech does one to take all the measurements and then the doctor comes in and does one to see for himself, so we get to see them twice every time. And now they are as big as Plums.

The doctor told us (or at least me) to come back every two weeks. The babies had to be monitored closely because they are Mono Di twins, since they share a placenta there is a 1:5 chance that they could develop TTTS or Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome, which is when one twin gets all the nutrients from me and the other gets none, it’s not healthy for either baby and can be fixed but has to be caught in order to be fixed. So every two weeks we go to Atlanta Perinatal at Northside Hospital, and although I know I should not admit this, I still have to use my GPS to get there and still can’t figure out the best place to park once inside the deck. I feel like there should be a frequent parking program, like every fifth park is free.

So two weeks later we went back to check on our babies and found out that they are GIRLS! Time to learn how to make grossgrain hairbows! Our sweet little lemons.

just to let you know, they can’t switch sides because of the membrane. That’s how they always know which is which.

Ok, here’s where I messed up, the the next day I had another appointment at my OB. When The doctor did the ultrasound we could see both babies head to toe facing each other, one was awake and moving her arms around, the other was asleep with her head drooped down. The awake one kept pushing the asleep one until she woke up, then they started moving tier arms towards each other, like they were playing. It was really cute. And we didn’t get a picture that day, sorry.

So two weeks later it was back to the Perinatal again. This time I was a little nervous because we had a little baby moon planned for memorial day weekend (see post here) but when I called the nurse to ask the doctor for clearance to fly she said I had to be checked right before, it just worked out that our appointment was the day before we left.

May 25, 2011 16weeks

Everything was great! babies are growing normally and equally! They are now approximately 7oz each. The size of an onion, which is actually a little big for 16 weeks, but some people say that twins develop faster because your body just knows that they don’t usually get 40 weeks of growing time.

And Finally we have caught up. Today I went to the OB again.

June 6, 2011 18 weeks

Now they are as big as sweet potatoes, even though they pretty much look the same as they did last time and the time before that, but it’s a good thing since they are just suppose to be growing for the next four months.  So in an effort to amuse myself I developed a game to play with them. It’s kinda like the cloud game where you try to find shapes in the white puffiness, here you try to find shapes in the black and white blurriness. I see jellyfish, what do you see.
