I’m am Elizabeth the babies oldest cousin and we are in north Carolina for our ant mindys wedding both me my sister my brother me and the babies will be in the wedding. It is really fun to play with the babies because they are such happy little girls! The babies do cry but only when they are hungry. I think that Julie and Yasha are taking a really good care of talia and jordan!
I Am still totally obsessed with instagram. I just love the super inspiring images I find there. For example there is this group of people who live in LA and all colaborate on various creative projects, their usernames are the littlest, designlovefest, Jenn gotch, the flash dance and bonnietsang. Yeah, I’m a total instagram stalker. All these people also have amazing blogs where they display thier work, but I prefer instagram because it’s where they record and share what inspires them. Then I have the twin moms I follow. Some have babies older than mine and some younger, it fun to see what other moms are doing with their double tots. And last I follow a few very stylish moms whom I get baby outfitting and baby photography ideas from. So, there, I let you in on a bit of my craziness. But look at the fun pictures I get from this craziness.
At the beginning of last year I started back up playing Maj Jong with a group of girls. I played regularly a few years earlier but quit when I wanted to have more time to spend with my new boyfriend at the time (he’s now my husband). One of the girls was in my previous group, Jamie, another was a friend I’d known for some time, Alyssa, and two other girls were new to me, Saren and Alex. Alyssa announced that she was expecting right around when we all started playing together and a few short months later Saren then I announced the same. So between the three of us we would have enough baby girls to have a mini Maj Jong game! What you are about to see was planned in our hearts from the moment we all found out we were having girls. Alyssa nicknamed her unborn baby BGS-Baby Girl S is her last initial. Then Saren and I realized we all had BGS, yeah! Alyssa also bought these really cute Maj Jong inspired onesies for all the girls so one Saturday we all got together and taught the girls how to play.
Everyone got set up and dealt. We dealt for them since their fine motor skills aren’t so fine yet. the girls got off to a good start.
some times they would check with us on a call. Talia was very attentive and tried really hard to get maj jong. and when she wasn’t the winner it was very disappointing. Jordan also paid close attention to her hand and what was being thrown, sometimes it got very tense. Livia was trying to give secret signals, even tough we tried to explain to her that she’s on her own, she has no team in Maj Jong. Ella was very careful not to share her hand. in the end all the girls were winners, how could they not be, they are so cute.
And we found the missing tile, Talia was sitting on it.
After the game the girls took some time out for the paparazzi (aka Crazy Proud Mamas). Ella and Livia are sitting up so nicely. Jordan and Talia aren’t quite there yet.
Before we were married and had kids we use to love to get in the car and drive somewhere new, find a new state park to go on a hike through or stop in a country restaurant and eat what the locals eat. Since the babies arrived we have yet to take a day road trip, not because we don’t think the babies would be good, but because if you are driving in the car you can’t hold the babies and play with them. Our babies are great in the car, they usually just fall asleep, unless they are hungry, then they scream like it’s the end of the world. If we are not almost to our destination or the screaming just gets too us too much, then I can sit in the back and give them bottles as we drive along. We only do this now that they are six months old and are good at eating and breathing at the same time. Up until about 4 months they had to eat on their sides to avoid getting too much in their mouth at once and not being able to swallow and breath. See this post on how we did that. I know, it’s not smart to feed a baby while you are driving, because god forbid they do start to choke you have to get off the road before you can get them out of their car seat to get the food out. BUT, we are only feeding them formula in the car, not any solids!
It’s not any bigger of a risk than strapping a baby into a highchair and feeding them solids, to get to a choking baby out of a highchair you have to take off the try and unhook them before you can clear the food from their throat, I’m sure they will outlaw all straps in highchair eventually and make us wait until babies are sitting up completely on their own and make us feed them on the floor surrounded by padding, hehe, that would be awful. My husband, the girls nanny and my self are all infant CPR certified.
Back to my point, we still love to get out and see new things on the weekend but have found a much more relaxing way to do this with two babies in tow, local festivals. These spring time festivals are a great alternative, we get to see some art, eat fun foods and people watch in the company of friends while enjoying our babies all day long. And to top it off, babies that are exhausted from a fun day out and about sleep all night long! Our girls have slept from 8pm to at least 5:30 for the past four nights. Usually they sleep longer, until 6:30 or 7! I still feel tiered at the end of the day, but not all day long anymore. And coffee always helps.
Having two babies is awesome but it has it’s challenges. I fully believe that having one baby is hard too, I just can’t imagine it. Taking care of a baby or two is easy. To change 15-20 diapers, make and feed 10-14 bottles, two baths, dressing two, tuck one in for a nap with a lovey and a pacifier then do the other one, then go back to the first to put the pacifier back in. Yes, taking care of the babies is easy, it’s trying to do anything else that’s hard. It’s hard to go anywhere normal, go to the grocery store, out to lunch with a friend, even the park. I really can’t do these things without having an extra set of hands. I’m lucky my husband lives to spend every waking moment possible with the girls too. And he is much better than me at challenging ourselves by trying to do more with the girls, like go to a nice restaurant for dinner or travel to visit a friend. I know it’s only going to get easier and it will be so much fun for Talia and Jordan to always have each other to go on the see saw together, but I can’t help be a little envious of my friends with one baby that they can throw on their hip or in a sling and go to lunch or pop into target for a few things. I guess I could do it, it just takes a lot of planning. So that’s that. Happy Friday, I hope you have a fun weekend planned, we do!
One day we brought home two little babies. They were very little. Miss Talia weighed a mere 4 pounds 15 ounces, her little head was the size of a tennis ball. Jordan was 6 pounds 4 ounces, most of which was in her head, 3/4″ bigger than Talia’s. And now at six months old they have nearly tripled their weights and Miss Talia is now, not only the oldest, but she is also the biggest at 14 pounds and 12 ounces. She’s a great eater. Jordan was not far behind and is growing very well too, her six month weight is 14 pound 10 ounces. It’s hard to see in the picture how much they have grown, it just looks as though the pacifier was much bigger!
Both girls measured 25 1/2 inches long (I can’t wait until the first time they pull themselves up so I can measure their height!). They have grown 7 inches in six months! And both girls are in the 25% percentile on the standard growth charts for height and weight. They may be little but they are strong. The doctor said they have great upper body strength, which you can see by their cute little arm muscles,
and as soon as they get their little butts up in the air they will be taking off in every direction! Let the good times continue. My husband and I are having such a great time raising theses sweet precious beautiful little girls. Every day is fun and exciting and we don’t even mind that every few nights one or both of them want to wake up and hang out at four in the morning because that’s just more time we get to spend with them while they are still so small. We know it’s bad to give in to it but sometimes you just can’t help it. They are just too cute!
We are lucky to live in a city where people get together. People find any and every excuse to get out and enjoy the day, the weather and each others company. This past weekend we had the pleasure of being invited to join a group of about fifteen young families at a park. We all have babies about the same age so we all have lots in common and we are all in that same place so it’s a good group to talk about frustrations or relish in the joys of being moms and dads for the first time. Many months ago the organizer of this outing hosted a brunch at her house for 12 pregnant women, here is the result no of the brunch, but of an eight month wait.
Talia and Jordan Love being outside, they gor all dresses up in Carters fancy clothes for the occasion. It’s impossible for me to get a picture of both of them smiling at the same time, here’s Jordan sort of smiling. Here is Talia smiling. Here is Jordan doing something, Here you go, those are pretty good smiles. That’s Livia, Talia and Jordans friend in the photo with them. And here are all four of the girls together! It’s really convenient that all these girls moms are friends since they are so close!
Weekends are the best, I know this is my standard topic for Monday mornings, but its true. All week we look forward to two whole days of holding the girls in our arms and playing with them from morning until night. In the mornings when the girls wake up we feed them then spend the next hour playing with toys, reading stories, singing and dancing to Hebrew YouTube clips of children’s songs or just cuddling babies. Then during their hour long morning nap we eat breakfast get dressed and pack all our bags that we need for the days outing. We need a lot. 10 bottles with water in them, powdered formula already measured out, twenty diapers, plenty of wipes, butt cream, changing pad, cloth bibs, burp cloths, pacifiers and a back up set, muslin blankets, a banana, a fork for mashing, baby spoons, plastic bibs, a blanket for the ground, toys and a few sets of extra clothes. And we’re are ready to go. Almost, don’t forget sunscreen for us and the babies, carriers and snacks for us. If we are going to a park we bring an umbrella. This weekend we introduced the girls to one of our favorite warm weather activities, festival season! All spring and summer long there are weekend festivals all over Atlanta. Festival food, crafters and music. Mostly it’s just something fun to do while walking around outside.
