DIY Bridal Shower Decorations
My best friend Peggy, is getting married. In just a few weeks I get to give the toast of all girly toasts and my best friend of the past 22 years is going to say I Do to a man named Gerry. He’s a really great guy, he is the man version of Peggy. He likes yoga.
The festivities took place in New York City, great! I use to live there! How fun to go visit, even if only for a short one night trip. When I arrived to NYC it looked like this.
one of my least favorite parts of living in NYC, was the rain, when it rains in New York, there is nothing to do!
But by the time I arrived at my friends house, it looked like this!
I have been pretty busy the past few months but I wanted to do whatever I could to make Peggy’s wedding celebrations special. So I did what I do best, made decorations!

I collected glass jars from capers and sauces and syrups.

I got together my supplies: twine, various laces and ribbons and a glue gun

I wrapped twine loosely around some of the jars and secured it with a dab of glue on each end, some I tied a ribbon around the middle for a girly touch.
others I cut various width lengths of lace just longer than the circumference of the jar and secured the cut edge to the jar with the glue gun, then overlapped the extra and glue it down on top. Here too I added a sweet ribbon where necessary.

Peggy’s wedding shower took place at Freeman’s, on Freeman’s ally in Manhattan’s lower east side. It’s one of New York City’s quaintest restaurants. If you’ve never been, it’s worth the trek downtown next time you are in the city.
We had a room to ourselves and one large table to seat all the guests. I brought some burlap to make a runner for the table and we added sunflowers, which really made the room pop. But for a softer look white and green garden style flowers would look really beautiful in these homemade vases.

I also scored a few of these great vintage crochets doilies at a side walk sale in Brooklyn the day before. I got them for $1 each, Score! It hurt me little to take them for just a $1 knowing that they are worth $5-$10 depending on the size.

It was a really lovely event. Good food, good company and great gifts! The big day is in just a few weeks. Check back for pics of the beautiful bride.
