Talia and Jordan have one more week of daily morning field trips before they start school in September! They are some lucky little people that have gotten to go and do all of the fun things for toddlers in atlanta. Here was all the fun they had this week.

Monday – Catch Air Sandy Springs, Ga

A mommy daughter outing

by Juliemara

Sunday mornings are tricky for activities. Not much opens before noon on Sundays and if its too hot or rainy the park is out. This past Sunday we took part in a fundraiser a dear friend told me about. It was held at a local art studio for kids. Talia and Jordan were probably a little young for it but don’t tell them that, they didn’t notice. They had a great time. They painted and stickers and colored and glued until they were covers to the elbows in shmutz (and some in their hair). Then when the art was done they lived the play section with the chalk wall, train table and bins of dinosaurs. During the arts and crafts segment I was so busy trying to keep paint out of hair that I wasn’t able to get many photos but I’m so happy I got a shot of my little peanuts in their art smocks.

This week our nanny took vacation so instead of trying to find a full week of substitute nannies, I decided to take vacation also and hang out with my girls. I can now say my nanny has the best job in the world. We had so much fun! It was a bit of a challenge to keep them entertained and pack for our holiday trip. But we did it, and we had a great time! I can’t wait for my next day off.

What we filled our time with:
Glitter glue paint
Water table in the deck
Playground
Splash pad
Made cookies and decorated them
Made yogurt berry frozen pops
Played in a giant cardboard box
Played in the basement/playroom/our bedroom
Played on the play set
Jumped on the mattress
And learned how to use the DustBuster
I can’t wait for my next day off.

This is how you can turn two king size pillows into a couch for toddlers. So simple and it makes them so happy to have a space of their very own, in their size.

A summer time sneak peak

The weather here is Georgia can’t make up its mind. A couple of weeks ago it was warm and sunny and we spent the whole weekend outside barefoot and coated in sunscreen. Now it’s chilly and rainy and really windy and has been for too long. I moved to Georgia from New York for the weather. No really I did, that and to be closer to my family. When I first moved to Georgia it NEVER rained, really, never. People joked about it but it was actually quite scary. It was the middle of a three year drought. The past three years have been a very different story, Atlanta is now ranked as one of the rainiest cities in the US. Even still the weather is better than in the North. For the most part our winters are mild, spring is beautiful and warm, fall is the same and the summers are sweltering, which I love. We spend our days outside every chance we get.

When it did finally warm up enough to play outside I found a great new toddler activity, ICE!

I emptied the ice from the catcher into a large bowl and set it out on the deck. The girls played for ever, until the ice was melted at least. When in does warm up again we will be playing the bowl of ice game again and again.
